! yeah! way cool-- historic artifacts from New York!! great addition to your collection.
p.s.- in '86 I worked on a ©1600 farm house in Kerhonkson on the D&H canal----just a year before I got my first detector---drat!!! I did get a blue glaze marble from out of the wall, though!!--

Unless Im reading it wrong, there were 57 white metal(WM) and 12 silver known in existence by the author Harold Hibler in 1963.

Here's a few numbers...If it's silver it's worth thousands(check HERITAGE AUCTIONS archives),in white metal up to $2000.000,At least 1 k...HH ALL !!!

Man I would check some more under that barn. I would also find out what prominent citizen lived there. Only several hundred made.

I just checked Heritage and according to condition they have sold between $517 uncertified to $9,775. There is one at auction right now. A gold one sold for $63,250!!
Condition is everything. Because of the small amount of damage, even not knowing the metal, I think it would go in the $500 range. Please do not clean it and congratulations on a nice find.

Look here and you will see that they made a bronze plated over white metal (BZplWM) and only 1 is known in existence by the author at the time of book publishing. Do I see a tint of bronze plating? http://www.socalleddollar.com/study1stED.html

The American Numismatic Society in New York has an HK 1 in copper/bronze. It is the only one known.

HA Has one listed now for 3/8-11 U.S.Coin Signature Auction MS60/NGC It's at $120.00 right now..It will go higher but as you stated before condition condition condition...HH
