Sorry didn't mean to come across harsh, just have seen quite a few of these.

Broadstruck coins will be larger than a normal coin due to no/partial collar being present when struck. Also when the coin is struck it causes the planchet to spread out in a bowl like fashion.

Yours has been hammered and rolled back which is typically done with a hard object or in something that tumbles it like a dryer.

Here is a good example of a SBA broadstrike for those who are wondering.

Looks similar to a coin that has been tapped with a spoon, the start of a coin ring.

Found a halve like that the other day. It appears as if the coin is deep or flushed and the rim rises quite a bit "above the coin" on both sides. Darn, I wish we both had keepers!

Ever try to make a coin ring? Take a silver half, it's fairly malleable, tap the outside edges with the back side of a spoon. Soon the edge will start to flare, then when it's the right size, hollow out the center, smooth, and you have made a coin ring. I tried it, (takes a long time) looks cool!

How do u hollow out the middle of the coin to make the ring?? Use a drill??
