Can’t take credit for this pan.
But I know there have been a few disappointing pans prior to this.
Persistence pays in the end.

WOW! He hit the gravel pit!

The rest looks like the gold from the stream I'm headed to in AK. If it's putting out 5 oz per hour panning, that's what a single pan should look like! Ought to be a fever near death when I use a sluice there! :occasion14:

Larger nuggets like that get carved up as they travel with softer subangular rocks that break easily.
Everytime the rocks break, there is a new sharp edge to gouge the bigger pieces of gold. That’s why those smaller pieces look like carved slivers and not the smooth watermelon seeds you find in the rivers.
