Explorer XS acting up>> UPDATE <<I got a used SE off ebay

Anyone ever heard of this? my xs turns its self on and sometimes factory resets all by its self . The first time I assumed something in the bag hit the button but after 3 times I ruled that out. It never turns its self off when in use however. Also the threshold tone changes when I adjust the sensitivity. Is my beloved XS going to die?

My original XS started turning itself on also when about 10 years old and within a short time was no longer trustworthy, so retired it and got the SE...........It was not worth sending it in for repairs, since it was a worn out detector as far as wear and tear went, it served me well over the years.

Repair isn't even an option as apparently Minelab will no longer fix an Explorer XS. They rejected someone who was just asking about a housing replacement.

Depends on whats wrong with the machine, if its the keypad that went bad Minelab does not have the part for the XS. If it is a curcit board your looking at about $700.00 your better off putting that towards a new machine at that point.

No kidding. I only paid $360 for it anyways. I am using another XS that i got off eBay for $500 that came with 3 coils and a sunray probe i was going to resell the unit and keep the accessories but now the original will b my spare for now. I will watch eBay for a bargen I just missed a ex II for $500.

Just won an ebay auction on a Ex SE that came in the mail today. It is so nice I am not taking it out until I have the cover for it! I paid $680 I think it was a good price. No accessories and in its original box. It looks barely used.
