have you played with lighting and a jewlers loupe?also look closely at them when they are wettened.bottom line is you may only be able to get exact measurements and weight and go from there.good luck and happy hunting...:icon_thumright:

Capped Bust Large cent. 1808-14. Head is visible in 2nd pic. At least that's what it looks like. I call it....like most I find....a colonial slug.

I agree that #2 is a large cent. Hard to tell much other than that... Need better pics. Always take your coin pics straight down (no angle) in sunlight on a dark background. That will help show maximum detail.

They both look pretty clean. Not sure what additional cleaning would do to help. I suggest getting high quality, hi res photos and use photo editing software to search for detail. I've had luck using negative image and changing the brightness and contrast to see otherwise hidden detail.

I've got about 50 others that look just like it. It's luck of the draw how they come out. Try again. Maybe the next one will come out like the Ct. on the banner. Ya never know. Good Luck. Hogge
