Detector(s) used
AT-Pro - Teknetics T2 LTD
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I received my new T-2 LTD detector on Wed. and my brother in-law came over to see it. He wanted to go check it out so I've been researching where the old fair grounds were in my area and came up with 5 locations starting in 1887 to 1963. The closest one had a fair from 1949 to 1957. We headed out under threat of rain. He used my AT Pro and I tried out the T-2. there was a lot of junk but not 10 minutes after we started he let out a yell and came up with a standing liberty quarter. We hunted for around 3 hrs until it started a down pour. All together we found some mercury dimes, 2 standing liberty quarters a couple of Washington quarters and some pennies from the 30's - 40's.

Thurs. we went back and tried again. What a site! I was sore from bending and digging but I didn't care. It seemed every 5 minutes I would get a good signal and dig. Most of the finds were 6" - 8" deep and a couple 3" - 4". It started pouring again so we left after about 3 hrs. wet and tired.

Today Fri. We went back and although it was drizzling out we hunted. Not as many finds and I passed up more than a few signals that weren't real strong because my back hurts. I like the T-2 better than the AT Pro because of the different sounds but pinpointing is much more difficult. The T-2 also goes deeper than the Pro because I asked him to double check a couple of holes for me and the Pro didn't pick up any signal.

Below is the silver we found. We washed them all up and sat with beers looking at them laughing. The pennies will have to go into a tumbler because they are really covered in grit and corrosion. The most interesting part is we did not find 1 Rosie. We now have 4 more sites to hunt and tomorrow we are going to the next one. I think I'll need a few of my pain pills....

Coins found.webp

You gotta get permission for that site! Can you use County property records to track down the owner and ask permission?

The owner is the county.

NICE! I believe you need a new best MDing buddy :laughing7:

Man, that site had to be undetected for all those years

You would never know a fair was there so many years ago and it was covered in trash. I suspect many guys started and gave up. I'm sure there are many more coins there but down under trash so it will take a lot of digging to get them. The only reason we stayed was we found the standing liberty quarter and then another within 15 minutes. We passed up a lot of other signals and dug some junk. It will be my go back to site for a long time but at 67 with bad legs I can only take a few hrs at a time.

Holy moly Glad you liked your new machine Ill tell you with all that silver I wouldnt care about tstorms tornadoes ect I would pitch a tent grab a keg or 2 and dig each and every silver coin lol Well done

That is a great site, hope your next is as good, congrats on the saves
