Let me be the first to say I have no clue.:laughing7:
If I had to guess... I say not too reale

kind of what I thought. Thanks RJ

Have you heard the saying... too good to be true ?
This may apply here... this coin looks "too good"...
A coin of this quality would be EXTREMLY rare...
But hey... you never know...
First... can we ask were did you obtain the coin?
And if you have a scale... what is the exact weight... in grams ?
And size reference please... like size compared to quarter... half dollar dime... something.

My son has it now. Just a little larger than a quarter. Said he had some digital scales at work. Believe it or not I found it years ago where an old flea market use to be. Magnet will not stick to it. But I guess a good counterfeiter would use silver. Like you said probably too good to be true.

Don't bother weighing it. It is a horrible fake. Ask yourself, why would a mint worker attempt a silver 8 Reale using escudo dies - knowing full well the results when the last controversy at the colonial mints arose? (Hint: Death)

kind of what I thought. Thanks RJ
