Went back to where I found the fake roman coin, and had a lot of fun!
Found my best piece of roman pottery, sigilata!!
Several roman coins, 1 in pretty good shape.
Two strange bronze items, one looks like a phallus, any help with that will be welcome!
Thanks for looking!

Nice Roman coin, even if it is fake. How were you able to tell?

Coins are in decent shape! The phallus looks more like a snake or eel. Phallic symbols were pretty authentic in roman times...

So if you're finding real roman items in this field, what makes you believe the first is a fake? Was it a recent fake or faked back in the roman times? Great finds though!

Thanks Hispan!
I mean that it's a fake roman coin, minted in roman times, so in my opinion double good!!

I would call that a phallic talisman or perhaps an amulet, depending on definitions, meant to be worn around the neck as a charm or for protection. Very popular Roman theme. I have seen the theme on ancient oil candles as well.

Amulets are worn to imbue the wearer with the associated powers of the gods rather than for any reasons of piety. (Thanks, Wiki.)

Great selection of finds that you got on this hunt. The coinage is in great shape, and really liking the bronze relics.
