I have had a bit of bad luck lately. I came home from vacation last week to find lightning had fried my computer & cable TV box. And the big tree next door was split right down the middle. Must have been a bad storm. So we went out & got a new computer and it is a lot faster than our old one. I have been in a slump water hunting lately so I decided to hunt a land spot that has been good to me in the past and dates back a ways. First I dug the handle. Then I checked the hole and dug down deeper to find the rest of this lock. I was hoping it went to a treasure chest! But there were no more signals in the hole. I had no idea what this lock went to until I did some searching on the internet and found out it was a Ice Box lock. I think it dates back to the late 1800's to early 1900's.

Floyd, that's a very cool and ornate old lock. I'd say your slump is officially over Buddy. WTG & HH, Quindy.

Definitely Eastlake in style Floyd!

I really love the detail that was put into hardware 100 years ago, it was meant to be seen! :o

Not like the junk that's available today! :-\

Nice find,
Dave

that is a great looking lock.

Sorry there wasn't a chest of treasure attached to it

New faster computer, eh? Well then, I'll be able to send extra pics of nails and tax tokens in my next email with no worries. :D Just kiddin'. :tongue3:
Love the lock!

Nana :hello:

LMAO! :laughing9:

Floyd,
That lock is way cool. You'll be finding the gold again soon enough. I think you're just being a gentleman by letting Rob and Dickie get a head start this season before you kick their butt$. ;D  And besides, at least you can go home every day and stare at the aquarium pirate ship full of treasures. Sorry to hear about the computer Buddy.

that's a sweet old lock. I wonder what something like that's worth

Hey Bisquit I love that ornate old lockset with knocker ! Nice find ! :icon_sunny: MaineRelic

I found one that is closely resembles what you have. They are very pretty and detailed. Your lock looks similar to this reproduction Ice Box latch minus the keyhole. I wonder if yours is a variation of these. Not sure why someone would need to lock the icebox. Just thought I would put my two cents in.

Awesome Find!!

That's a very pretty one there Floyd. Rob's luck is gonna rub off onto you after he's done with it! That's usually how it goes in my experience. Nice find buddy :icon_thumleft:

That is a neat find. I wished I had the ice to go with it.
