A silver set of dentures dating to mid to late 19th century due to the method of fastening the teeth to the plate: platinum pins as pictured.

Here’s how it went down: Detected an old farm today. My only good signal came at the end of the day. Everything was deep and iron and old at the site. After digging down about a foot, I saw some shiny metal. I reached down into the hole and pulled a fist full of dirt out. When i opened my hand up I got scared, yelled and ran away.

This appliance seems dated to me, and might be somewhat older than one would assume. If I found it, I'd show it to a decent dentist to see if he/she could estimate the age.

That would be a great curio piece...but definitely would soak it in hydrogen peroxide or something that kills germs...

1850-1900. The porcelain teeth had platinum pins attached to them and were secured to the plate through a tiny hole and solder. You can see them in the last picture. This was an 1800’s style of construction.

A friend of mine that has passed years back , thought he found a smaller gold nugget in a stream here in Southern St. Charles Missouri along Hi-way 94 only to find out it was a gold tooth ! That ended the party !

Yikes! That's a heart-stopper, and not in a good way.

I looked up the origins of metal dentures...beginning in the 1700's with Pierre Fauchard...apparently he used animal teeth...things gradually improved around the 1800's etc...

Finding human bones isn't the end of the world! Fact is, it isn't all that rare. It just depends on where you look. In the Sierra Nevada Mountains, over 2,000 planes have crashed over the years, with few ever being found. It is a vast area, and an area very difficult to traverse. The area is unofficially called the Bermuda Triangle of the Northwest.

And I think the northwest seems to spawn alot serial killers.....think I'd rather find a plane crash than the other if I had to choose...
