I can swear some years back someone found something similar, and posted here for ID. Duh if I would read the posts and not just look at the pretty pictures, I would see you posted that you posted this previously.......

Dave, thanks to ffuries, I went back to look at the earlier post. My initial thoughts are along the same lines as Got_4by4 and Voice of Reason. Between this and the earlier post, there are lots of good thoughts & potential IDs. Consider showing the find or sending pictures of it to a jeweler and/or someone who knows fashion and see if they can ID. Good luck!

Antiquarian, have you looked into a possible Masonic connection?

That's an interesting theory creskol, so why wouldn't all three side look identical?
Also there's no sign of any additional solder on the back where they would've been soldered together or evidence of a pin like a brooch? :dontknow:
Dave

Here's a link to a previous post on the ones I recalled. Memory still working, that's a good sign.......

Hey Mike, that one looks identical to mine... hey that is mine! :laughing7:
Hard to believe I made that post 9 years ago.

That's a good idea, in fact I did show it to a husband & wife jeweler who do periodic repairs for me.
They had no idea what it might have originally been from.

I'm usually pretty quick to identify masonic symbolism, but I may have to look into this further.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts,
Dave

Perhaps there was a"sleeve" of some sort that snapped over the bars that would have made the sides identical and served as an attachment. I would be curious to see the two pieces assembled in the star configuration.

I'll do this later this afternoon and will post a couple of pics creskol.
Right now, I have to do the Saturday morning grocery shopping, this afternoon I'm out detecting.

Have a great weekend buddy,
Dave

Welcome to Tnet from Toronto Anti! :hello:
The bullet casing I just used for scale for the pic, but it's an actual round stamped 'DAC' dated 1921.

Dave, I wish you well on today's detecting. The monsoon has let up in my area (record rainfall over the past 2-3 weeks) and I've got a permission - so am eager to get out and practice some "social distancing":occasion14:

This pic is from my first post in Sept. 2011

Dave, it was a mixed bag yesterday. Around the existing home built in the late 1860s, I found 12 modern coins, nails, aluminum, etc. A few hundred feet behind the home once stood a stone cabin that was built around 1818 and torn down in the early 1900s. Using a 1857 map, I scaled the location as best I could on Google Earth, then plugged the lat/long into my GPS (now a farm field). On some historic imagery I noticed that during some summers crops were stressed in that same area - which could be an indication that a building once stood there. Did a surface recon and didn't see anything, so started detecting. Found a 1835 LC, a beat-up pocket knife, a iron hook and some iron artifacts. Oddly enough no rose head nails. I plan to return to that area Monday with a 100' measuring tape, make a grid, the flag and record every notable artifact I dig - to see if a pattern emerges.

It sure sounds like you're onto a good onto a good site there buddy, congrats on the 1835 LC too.

The research you've done is amazing, hopefully you'll find a lot more of the history of the site today.

Best of luck to you,
Dave
