Farm woods and "the mound" - more CW ***CLEAN BUTTON PIX***
I had a few quick trips to the farm at lunch this week. It's been so flippin hot, but finally cooling down the next few days. One lunch I hit "the mound" area where I found the cannonball piece last week, and other items.
I also hit an area right at the woods next to what used to be a plowed field.
My finds were:
*A 4 point deer antler (surface find, of course)
*A nice 24cm Flat Button with back mark and lots of gold gilt. I have it soaking in oil right now. I don't want to rush cleaning this one and ruin it. I'll post a picture of it cleaned up later.
*Part of a bullet with only one ring visible. Any idea why the weird shape? Almost looks like it has been sliced through.
*Some lead chunks. One may be quite a prize though if it's what I think it is. It has a round ring in it with a protruding center in the middle of the ring. A 3-ringer fits this depression nicely when I put it in the opening. I have no clue how they made lead bullets during the CW. Is this the start of a bullet, or bullet impression possibly?
*A horse harness cross shaped thingy with a worn ring at the top. Looks pretty darn old. What is this piece called?
*Pottery shard.
Other added CW pictures are from the Bentonville battlefield display I went to go see last Saturday.
Thanks for looking,
MM
