I think this is the nicest piece of flint I have acquired to date. The good Dr. from Florida did an incredible job on this piece for me. I'd like to see any other restored pieces if anyone wants to share.

Wow. Over 3 inches of KRF. That's an amazing point before the restoration!! I would like to know what was used to restore and maintain the translucent quality. Very cool!

I'd say they are using an epoxy and coloring. I have had several pieces restored and the color matches and workmanship are just amazing!!!

Wow. That's awesome. I think I would rather get repos of the original without breaks and keep the artifact how it is but you can't argue with how yours look. Beautiful.

Well, I'm not sure how or even if you could get repro's. I am sure it would be expensive if you could.,,,,, But the way these are restored you can always remove the added material and get them back to broke if one chooses. It's much better than a re-chip restoration by far.

I've sold the last two pieces, bought them cheap paid a little to have them fixed, and then people have fallen in love with them and offered pretty good money for them. Everybody is happy, and the original rock IS still there.

I've only have one piece that I had restored by Dr Gomer and as soon as I found it I knew it was heading to Florida to be fixed. It's a Thebes made of Flint Ridge Jewel Flint and Doc did an outstanding job of restoring it. If I didn't tell people it was restored they would probably never know.

Love this thread. Those artifacts are fantastic, after restoration.

I've seen some of his work that was sent his way from down here in S.W. Georgia and man he is the best! I've yet to hear of a complaint about this fellow's work. I've got a few that I plan to send down there as well.

How much does he generally charge?

If you e-mail him a photo, he will give you an estimate. He also provided before and after photos documenting the extent of the work. He has never gone over his estimate, the many times I have sent him things. IMHO he is very reasonable.

Here's a few that were restored by the Doc that belong to a friend of mine.
