i have read some post in the past about people detecting in the river where old wagon trails were and doing very well , since some wagons flipped and they would lose everything .
so i would think a ferry landing may have some stuff dropped near the landings ?

A friend and have been detecting at a 1830-1840 ferry crossing for a few weeks now, nothing found yet but I think we will find something eventually.

YES!! any river crossing spots or ferry crossing spots are good to detect. When i'm hunting next to a river I always keep a look out on spots where soldiers or people would have crossed the river.
