The goodyear blimp landed on huntington beach to unveil the pacific performers line-up. This was the first time the Goodyear blimp landed on a beach since the 1940's. The summer is approaching. Several airshow will takeplace across the country.

It costs approximately $100,000.00 a say to fly it around.

And it was over Philly for Some Sports event.
It's Definitely an amazing Sight!

It would cost between $100-200K to fill it up the first time. (Depends on world market prices)
It looses approximately. 5-1% through its skin daily. So they keep it topped up at a cost if $10K monthly.
Takes 15-20 special crew to keep it going.

I got to ride on it as a kid, just random, I was in the right place at the right time.

Goodyear operates a fleet of four blimps. These days, unless you have the right connections to get a corporate invitation as a guest, the only way to get a ride is by bidding for one of the flight certificates that the company donates to charities and other non-profit organisations from time to time for them to auction off to raise funds.

They’re generally sold in pairs and typically realise anything from $6,000 to $15,000, but have been known to fetch up to $34,000.

When I was a kid and loving in So. Cal. we used to see the blimp quite often.
I believe it was parked somewhere in the area, and we'd see it going from
Orange County headed up towards LA.

Also played little league baseball in a park located directly adjacent to a Nike
missile base. Wasn't all that unusual to have one of the missiles rise up from
it's underground launcher right in the middle of a ball game.
