Spent some hours finding the place, but we got there easier after we turned the Sat Nav off :tongue3:

Spent about 8 hours on two different fields. Perfectly flat & sandy as a beach. Nice change from the solid clay in my area.

Picture 1 all the Lead - my fav sign of a good field.

I seemed to have a great buckle day with several nice Medieval examples.
Still ringing early Crotal Bell
1818 Sixpence
3 poor hammered (1 OK reverse, Robert of Canterbury - Henry III, found on the way back to the car)

A good day out with my mate

Glad to here it, I thought you had dropped of the face of the earth  I look forward to seeing your hammered, I guess  I just made 17 this year, the XP is living up to its name. All of them have been pretty rough though. I'm looking forward to a nice shortcross.

Had 2 hammered today on five after a very slow start, also had something a bit special which no doubt you have seen now

Good day Crusader, nice to see you find some copper/bronze in good condition for a change. Did you visit any estate agents in Norfolk ?.

"Field Trip"

What a pun. :D Did you take the school bus to get there?

Those are some great finds--and yes, those medieval buckles are in great shape. It's nice that the plow spared them.

Best Wishes,

Buckles

Dang! Time to get the passport renewed and take a flight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Super day for you, really like the buckles also, what a variety....

I've been offered a job up that way, but I'm happy where I am. These fields have produced some nice Saxon stuff, which I tried desperately to find without success. Maybe next time. We are welcome anytime. :)

As always, great finds. Now, what did you do to the Lobo. ;D

The Lobo was my main machine at one time, then my back-up but the wires broken to the battery pack. So instead of leaving it un-loved I gave it to Shaun. Telling him that I hope he could fix it, which he promptly did. ;D So its got some miles on the clock & is proberly suffering from old age. I've been pleased to see it in action again & finding Shaun some nice stuff.

The reason I did a bit better was because I was detecting like there was no tomorrow looking for Saxon stuff (never got any but its a rare opportunity given by Shaun to me, as I don't drive). I was going quickly to cover more area & I have my recovery time down to a few seconds. Time is the greatest hurdle of UK detecting, time on your knees is wasted time. Not saying that Shaun is slow, as he's pretty quick now, I just have a few years on him. I am at one with my spade. More importantly the powers of the XP

A sign of true friendship. :) I'll be waiting for your next post. Love seeing the things you find over there.

i'm afraid knees is my only option
there's nothing wrong with the lobo as most of my finds came out of that iron infested field, which i was quite pleased with

I'm susprised the crop had room to grow with the amount of iron in that field. I almost gave up straight away, glad I didn't :)
