It's NASTY. ;D I tied my best ever one day Injun total with 7...and in only a 4 hour hunt. Wouldn't you know they are all at least G to VG EXCEPT the one I wanted. :D Finally I popped out the scarce 1872 that books at $300 in F-12....$125 in VG-8....even $75 in G-4. HOWEVER I would have to grade the one I found as C-1 (CRAPPY) ;D It looks like half of it was sitting in fertilizer for many years now. Back in the early 80's I found the 1877...but this 1872 has eluded me until now.

Oh well....to be honest it really doesn't matter... as I found it..and that's what counts. It also has a very clear date which is what I do like about it.

I met up with a hunting buddy...Deeponedge... and the soil in this park was definately not kind to these injuns. :icon_scratch: He also found 3- 1800's injuns...but all of them were nasty too. It's a shame...'cause if the 1872 was anywhere as nice as the 1865...It's a $75 coin at worst. Oh well...I said that didn't matter didn't I?? ;D ::)

This park was obviously beaten to submision over the years because I never even found a wheatie. ...and neither did Darrel. All of the coins I found were 8" to 9"...except for the 1865..which was right at 10" deep. :o To be honest...that's why I love hunting a pounded to death park...because all the shallow targets to as deep as 7" targets are usually gone. That leaves only the deepies that everyone else obviously walked over..and for a reason. They're either deep...next to trash......standing on edge...etc. You really have to pay attention to faint chirps....then investigate those chirps.

One of the Barbers was right at 9"...and it gave the weakest "warbly" chirp. It only hit nice in one or two directions..but the sound I like was definately there. I never rely on cursor placement...because at depth...it just isn't as accurate as the sound given...at least to me anyway. :tard: When I went to all metal pinpoint to check it....the cursor still wasn't locking anywhere...BUT the sweet sound was good enough for me to try the target...so I dug. It ended up being at an angle off to the bottom side of the hole....so I'm glad I did. When you're having a good day...it's a Barber. On a bad day it would have been a rusty nail. ;D

I can't wait to go back sometime and see if I can't pull out a "fatty" injun. I know I walked over a couple of hits that sounded just between pulltab and injun. I tried a couple of them...and sure enough...pulltab. ??? I remember though...I dug my first fatty this year...and that's exactly where it hit. When injuns with these dates I was finding are popping out...it would definately be worth investigating some of the low conductor hits next time.

I ended up with 7 injuns...1865...1872....1886...2- 1892's...1898..and one 18?? Also the two Barbers...1907...and 1911.
Thanks for viewing and good luck on your next hunt. :headbang:

Big Guy,

You can always impress us with your park hunting skills! That Indian is a GREAT find indeed, Big Guy!

Keep your passion high, my friend!

Kirk
Thanks Kirk. I have been having more fun lately concentrating on deep injun hits. The last 2 or 3 of these parks I hit were pretty wiped out with any targets shallower than 7". In these kinds of spots...I either hope for some injun hits...or I go home with nothing in my pouch ;D
Take care bro...and bring home some colonial goodies for me to view.

Congrats, Congrats, CONGRATS! Way to go and those are super Dandy's. I think that 1872 is awesome....IT ALL IS! Way to go!

Big guy, it is good to hear that you crossed that elusive Injun off of the metal datecting want list. :icon_salut: I've never seen anyone yank out so many Injuns in one day...consistently on just about every hunt. :notworthy:

You and the Captain are two GREAT hunters. :notworthy: I would love to go back in time...with both of you...to about 1969...sit back...and watch you two excavate 50-100 wilvers in one day. :headbang: :icon_salut: :headbang: It is 2008 and you are still pulling out the wilvers and Injuns like it were 1988. You, my good buddy, should be super proud of your accomplishments. :occasion14:

Here's to you finding another 1877 Injun! :occasion14:

Kyle
Thanks Kyle. I have been very lucky the last 2 or 3 hunts with poppin' out some injuns'. Most of these parks I hunt are very tough any more. Some days you get nothing...but other days things just pop out if you go slow enough...and can get deep enough. Many of these parks don't have any wheaties or mercs left...but injuns are still hidin' in a few of them...and an occasional silver critter. I'm thrilled to be mentioned in the same breath with Dan. That would be a fun hunt...if we could go back to the 80's with the technology we have now
You colonial fellers' could bring the xlpro...heck I might even bring my xlpro along...and my SE..and use both. Between you...Chris...Kirk...Dan...and I...I bet we would dig too many silvers to keep in our pockets. My britches would probably not stay up...and Dan's...heck he would need a bucket for his silver ;D
Bryce my man...I think we would have to bring a mule along just to haul half the silver in this hypothetical hunt. Keep up the good work man.

Thanks Neil. I love hunting a site that is at least old enough to have injuns hiding there. A lot of the parks I hunt were not established until the 20's or so. i like hunting the ones that have been around since the 1870's or so

Thanks Chris. We might need two of them. One for the silver...and one for the coppas' ;D :D
Take care my friend..and keep pulling out those sweet coins.

Hey Silver :icon_king: I think the 1872 looks great :icon_thumleft:  :icon_thumright:

Simply a matter of beauty is in the eye of the beholder ... Soil can be mean in this hobby but also consider how long the coin was in circulation also.
Thank GOD it didnt come from a upstate NY cornfield loaded with chemicals !

The Barbers are SWEEEET :occasion14: You live up to the name as always :notworthy:

Congrats ! Love seeing your posts :headbang:
