Finally, some silver

This week has been rough
6 brinks box of half dollars
1964 x 1, no other silver
CWR Half dollars:
$700 - skunk
But today, $40 in loose halves from 5 different banks:
1966 x1
1967 x7
1968D x2
1969D x1

Busy week, lots of halves search, payoff at the end

I've had similar results this week myself - on a smaller scale. Wednesday's half box was a complete skunk. But I got one loose half dollar at a bank yesterday and it was a '64 - 100% success. I've now had a 2 half box skunk streak and as far as I'm concerned that's 2 boxes too much for me. I'm just going to keep searching loose and cwr halves from now on. That's how I've had about 99% of my success with halves anyway. I know people say volume is the key to success but it's just not worth it to me search through 30, 40, 50 or 100 half boxes with dismal results just to hopefully get a great box with 20 or 30 silver - esp when I can do about 1000% better with loose and cwr's with much less searching & dumping.

But I'm going to start increasing my volume with nickels and cents. The only way to get skunked with either of those is to get a solid box of new coins which so far has never happened to me before. In fact I found 3 silver nickels in my last box of nickels and 1 silver nickel in $20 of string rolls this week.

I feel your pain... I'm still trying to dump the 10 boxes I got last week. With a full-time job, banks' opening times being what they are and only one good coin counting machine in my area, dumping them is just too much of a hassle.

I can realistically only do ~4 boxes a week. I think at the point where I get skunked 2-3 weeks in a row, I'll call it quits and stick with an occasional box and whatever I can find in over-the-counter halves

I've reached the same conclusion, though I'm down to only 2 boxes a week, and keep getting skunked on those week after week.
