For any of you that have kept up with my threads, you know that I've been looking for pottery in my home town for years. I finally found a few small shreds today. One piece has a unique curvature, and I think it may be a broken pipe. I'm not sure what else it could be. I'll post it first, then the stamped or pressed pieces. Thanks for viewing!!

Could it be a pipe piece?

I also found a spent up gun flint on my walk in. I have to walk three miles in on private property to hunt this spot. It's well worth the walk, these small pot pieces are not even the beginning of what's to be found!!!

Alright ! You have been after this for a long time in your area. Now you are on the trail and it is not even summer yet. On the rounded piece maybe a pipe or neck to a bottle shaped pot? Looks like a good clay pounding culture either way if you are finding that. :hello: Sometimes it's the little things that are the clue. 3 miles is a cake walk for you N.C

Nice pottery shards nc.It looks to me like its all the same material.id also say the piece in question is a type of pottery.

Nice work Rusty! I know you've been looking for that for a while. Glad you got there. Throw up a pic of the gun flint if you get a chance. I've always been a fan of those.

Nice going Rusty... I have a feeling That's just the beginning for you At that spot.

congrats on it and I would go back to that spot no telling what else you will find.

It's the second chapter. The first chapter was better!! Both were sweet for me! Thanks Bill! Now I'm looking huge pot sherds, like the ones you sent me! Lol! I think I have found a closer route in to this place. That's super cool. After walking 3 miles in, it's time to turn back after an hour or two. Time has changed, that better aids me. All is looking bright!

Thanks! The piece that I thought could be part of a pipe is more than likely part of the mouth of a jar like vessel. It seems small for a piece of a native pipe bowl, and large for the elbow or stem of one. It's definitely pottery. Thanks for the view!

Here is the pic Joe. It's spent I'd say. I have a frame of spent flints. Gator sent me the only flint that I have ever seen that wasn't worn to a nub! Thanks for the view buddy. Looking forward to you and the monkey making the trip back down! I need the monkey to show me how to hunt this area.

All nice finds, worth a good walk. Love finding sherds, even harder to do up here, but we've been lucky. BTW, I don't think it's necessarily too small for a pipe bowl, but not saying it is, just not too small perhaps.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but speaking of gun flints, I picked up 2 the other day (rare for me)

Thanks Charl. I suppose you are right. In fact, seems that a jar like vessel would thicker than this piece. Not sure, I'm just glad that I have finally found pottery from my home town. Every one said I would give up and move on to my next hobby before I found pottery here. (I have had many interest in my life and fell short of mastering most of them. Skateboards, dirt bikes, drums, outboard engine repair, body building, you name it, I have played with it a little.) seems that artifacts, fishing, and music have stuck with me though. The ones that can't be mastered. Lol!

Congrats on your find.

Congrats on your find.

Thanks! I have seen some old threads that you started. If my recollection hasn't misled me, you have some nice piedmont artifacts. Did you ever find pottery here, in the piedmont area of NC?

Nice finds N.C., glad to hear what you found.
