All,
I bought my detector almost 3 full years ago and finally found my first silver! I was actually wondering if I was every going to find any, and part of me still doubts it - even thought the beautiful '.925' is stamped on the piece!
The silver piece is a schoolhouse pendant or charm. The schoolhouse opens with a hinged roof, and it's hard to make out, but it looks like there is a teacher and three students inside. There is a symbol to the left of the .925 that I can't make out exactly and I'm asking everyone what they think it is so I can do some research on what company this piece came from.
The story: I was detecting at a school over the weekend with my Ace 250. I got a penny-dime signal at about 4 inches. Most of the signals I was digging were in this range and they were all pennies, so I dug hoping for at least a wheat. Found the little 'box' and it opened on the side. At first glance I thought I found a very mini treasure chest.
It was caked with dirt, so I couldn't make it out at the time, so I brought it home and let it soak in soapy water for a few days. I cleaned it off last night and bingo - there's the .925 clear as day (with the jeweler's loupe).
Cool little piece - and if anyone can help me with the symbol, that would be great!
