:laughing7: I hope everyone will play along. Rack did the point game and Ill do the pottery game. There is 3 piles and only 1 pile is pottery. I find so much lookalike pottery in the creek. See if you can pick the rite pile. This will be fun.
1, 2 or 3 your choice and one pile is really pottery shards.
Lets see your skills, rock

I thought this game would be a breeze. Lol! I have to crank up my PC. I can't determine which ones are pottery on my phone. I'll be back with my guess in a bit!!

I'll say the first ones.
They often look real dark when they are wet like those.

#3 as I think I see some concave form indicating a vessel of some sort......tough to tell without handling. #2 looks like limestone.

#1 , I believe i see cord marks on the top 2 pieces, but just a shot in the dark, i've never found anything creekin. Glad i dig most of my pottery up after seeing this.
Are you guys searching creeks close to sites or are these creeks that were diverted and now cut through sites?

My guess is #1 and this is my final answer but I really don't know anything about pottery lol

I'll say pic #1. I don't know anything about it but the other two pics look a little thick and uneven in some places sort of like flat rocks.

I believe for the most part the creek hasnt change for yrs. If there is a camp site in the area where I am finding pottery I havent found it yet. Most of the pottery all except the piece in my avatar has some dark creek staining so I would guess it has been underwater for many yrs. I cant get to the area of the bank where the one in my avatar washed out. Its covered with trash and is very deep and a large tree on top of the spot to boot.

This is cool:thumbsup: ,it's harder than you would think. My guess is #3

Basing on my finds in the area, the black were the fireside. Besides, I'm seeing dots in the 3rd, & one looks to be part of the rim, so I going with #3. I don't have rocks/stone in my part of LA, so all looks like pottery shards to me.

I say #3, one piece in particular has the look of some sort of vessel and one of the edges has a broke off look that resembles pottery.

Allot of good guesses so far. Still quite a few havent played. Most do their hunts on the weekends so Monday evening I will reveal the answer.

Ahh.. come on.. haha

I'm going with #3. Reason being, I see curvature in one piece. I can't determine the thickness of any of the pieces. Nice post Rock!

Yeah try finding some pottery in that creek. Its allot of bending and flipping. If the shard is in the current face down and you flip it with your stick it will actually move quite fast cause the pottery is lighter. If it is stone it will move slow. Thats how I can tell. If its on a gravel bar it is usually on top of some grass sitting sideways. Rocks will usually be flat or under some sand.
