Went back the last 2 mornings to hit the only field site I have left that has not yet been planted to try and pull a few more relics out. I spent most of the time wandering around the 110 acres trying to locate another hotspot, but seems like most of the finds were just random leftovers from years of others hunting this site. Did manage a few buttons and other odds and ends. Today I recovered a nice lead seal that had the inscription "George Tait & Sons, Norfolk, VA". Did a little research and found out they were a seed grower and merchant that's apparently still in business. But one reference I found from 1917 talked about the 48th edition of their seed catalog coming out that year, so that dates the company back to at least the 1860s. So maybe that was a period find after all.
