:hello:

Spent a night at the new area we are trying to open up, buts it's very obvious that getting permission is going to be near impossible this is a very sensitive area Archaeological wise. But the pasture camp site we are staying at is right next to a ancient road and area but very sandy, and the fields have huge build up over the years, anything that has not been ploughed on a regular basis is very difficult, finds being very deep.:sadsmiley:

The site has had a Victorian Mill once and finds reflected this, but a few older items have shown as well, one for my partner was a fragment of a 13thc foreign hammered. An Anglo-Gallic hardi d'argent of Aquitaine, stuck under Henry IV, Henry V or Henry VI. My best find turned out to be a Georgian watch fob seal, which has a heart at the centre and a small inscription which is very difficult to make out. WITH LOVE OF -------? never seen a small one like this before, but quite pleased with it.

My Mate also found a fragment of Bronze Age, looks like a dagger point :dontknow: It seems that we will have to push further towards the coast, and inland away from this area, but we have a good base to stay, with some back up detecting at hand.

Yes played with the pictures in photo shop, I think some of the letters may be slightly damaged. But I can make a few out.

Nearly missed this. Very good result for grass!

Its a Bronze Age Spear Point, I've had a few like it, pretty good on pasture!

Overall I would be very happy with that lot.

It's to long and narrow for a spear point..:unhappysmiley:

Not if you look at the profiles of the spear points, its spot on.
So are the dagger blades, the taper is to long and narrow for a spear.

The taper is fine for some variants, not all have the wider taper, specially the Irish types & other imports.

I throw my spear at your dagger....

PS. The closer I look, the central ribbing seems a little off for spear.....

What's more interesting is it was found in a field opposite to a Holy Spring.

PMed you. But for those reading, I'm now more in SS's camp with the dagger theory, but its a very close call...

Anyways, I'm looking forward to getting out again!

Now it`s becoming interesting! Looking forward to see what comes next!
Trying to get permission of the land owner were the spring comes out of the ground, but it's in turf, so will have to wait till they strip it all of, which they have started to do.
