Time is running out for this field, speaking to the farmer today he is ready to plant seed this Wednesday.

Top coins are badly worn George the ? copper, and a new 2 pence piece.

The site is a documented Roman industrial site, but this is the first evidence of it I have found.

Thanks for looking.

Yes it is rapeseed going in, a good cash crop around here, more fields year on year. (No set aside now)

Set aside was always a plan “B” when things got desperate.

Now it’s off to the beach with my trusty (rusty) Whites PI. for plan “B”

More cool, excellent and for me (so far), unobtainable finds.
I am interested to find out if - is the local crop traditional, or is to feed the bio-diesel industry?

"Mostly we'd like you to buy yellow fields cold pressed rapeseed oil for its great taste. It has a subtle flavour, sort of earthy and nutty but not overpowering making it really versatile. Mixed with balsamic vinegar the softness of the oil makes a lovely salad dressing. It's also good for cooking; it works well for stir-fry, makes tremendous roast potatoes, a real all-rounder."

I am sure there are other uses............fuel?

Cheers for that info Doug. It's just that I have a sense of impending doom if more and more of our food producing crops are taken over for the production of bio-fuels.
