Firewood and racoon

Got started on the wood supply later than usual.. Definitely had to work for this. Standing dead trees down a steep hill. I was worn out just going down and back up the hill using chokers, cables and a block to yard the logs up to the landing...Ready for winter now though.


While driving home yesterday morning, I saw three of these coons wading in the shallow creek alongside the road. I stopped and by the time I got out, two of them had already ran over the bank out of sight..This one allowed me one shot and followed the others..One picture is a big crop of the other.

Nice picture of the raccoon and good looking firewood. Hopefully you won’t need all of it this Winter... but we both know better.

That is some good looking firewood! I used to cut my own winter wood. Got too old and moved to house that had a gas living room heater. Gas doesn't warm you like wood, but it's a close second, a lot less work and a lot less messy! Great shot of the racoon! Thanks!

Enlarged the pic to see what kind of wood it was. That milk container has all kinds of stuff in it, 2 scoops, post hole diggers.. you set to dig up something. lol

cousins hanging out on my front porch last night.

Looks like you've got 6-7 cords put up..that hydraulic splitter
is a real life saver, ain't it?

young coon is good eating once it's cold enough to rid them of bugs. . I'm about to start cutting my wood for next year . this years wood was cut last year.
those are some big rounds you got there looks good.

Thanks Dizzy, I'm not sure how many cords the storage space will hold. I've never done the math, I just fill it up and stack it high. I usually use a little over half of it through the winter.
Yes the splitter saves a lot of work..Knots don't slow it down.

Well, old people acquire things over the years. I sold my water hunting detector years ago. (The wood is Red Fir. )

Great pics it’s hard to get a good picture of raccoons.. but some say raccoons may be sick if their out during the day

I never saw one during the day, and it can be scary at night. Very aggressive...
I used to like them until I saw videos of them attacking people. It gets messy, and painful if a big raccoon gets you.
When I saw one in my trash during the night, I got freaked out and called the people from https://tulsa.aaacwildliferemoval.com/raccoon-removal. They came quickly and took away the raccoon. It was without fuss, and it was painless for the animal too. Some people choose to kill them, but that's not always the solution.
