I know many of you have far more exciting things in your collections, but for all the hunting I've done, I have little to show for it. Today changed all that.
Got a nice high ton eon my Minelab Safari and out of the ground popped a CSA button, my first ever.
I could use some help ID'ing the other 2, one might be a flat button, the other broke when I dug it but has a letter on the front. I've never seen one like it, but it must be civil war era?
Anyway, happy holidays to you all!

Confederate Infantry button, known as a Script I .. the other looks like a colonial era button, possibly a dandy button

Excellent finds

Just to stir the pot a little, that script I looks like a one piece button. While there was a varity of one piece during the Civilwar, there were several of the 1814-1817 era. The question: is it a one piece. But either way it falls it is still a super find.

It appears the rim to the button is broken off sitting right above it

Also, I don't think the earlier script I's had the lines running through the letter

What does the back of the CSA button look like?? :dontknow:

I'd be hunting the crap out of that spot, 2 CS buttons, what else did you find? Any bullets, or other brass? HH

That CSA button looks like its in great shape. Nice saves!

Any day you dig a Confederate button is great day, but when you dig two...... :headbang: :hello2: :blob7:

Like others have said, I would hunt that spot slow and hard.

incredible CSA buttons :icon_thumleft: That's a Great days finds ! :headbang:

Great finds. 2 nice CSA buttons. Keep working that place!

Special thanks for all the kind words, I'm pretty stoked.
The back of the CSA button reads "Birmingham S. Buckley" or something close to that.
The Infantry button has no back, or at least wasn't found by me, and the other has nothing but a spot where I presume the loop broke off.

And yes, I'll hunt it again and again!
Happy holidays everyone!

wow those Confederate buttons are awesome. get back out there and hunt the crap out of that place :headbang: :headbang:

Oh yeah - great buttons! :icon_thumright: Dig every good (and bad) signal at that site! :headbang: And if you need help doing that I'm sure someone here will volunteer to help! :laughing9:

thats deff a script I ...if that button came out anywhere near that CSA btton its deff a civil war button see if you can post the backmark on the script I and CSA, some kind of luck i just found my second confeddy button after 4 years of hard hunting.....hunt that spot tight..if it makes a sound i would dig it....2 good buttons in one spot...there is no doubt more keep us posted

With the amount of buttons I see coming up versus the amount of bullets, the men fighting must have been fighting with their pants around their ankles.

It always happens. You get a little discouraged from the lack of finds and then BAM!!!..... two kick-ass buttons!!!!! WTG :headbang:

Great buttons!

That is a very nice CSA button with a desirable backmark! I hope you are able to find more great buttons out of your spot and like others have said, hunt it hard and dig the iffy signals. Good luck and please keep us posted on your other finds. I'm betting you are going to be surprised at what is waiting for you.
