First day out at Corrigan's (Vero Beach, Fl) and came up with something that other TH'rs
said was a piece of the shuttle. Gave a reading like silver, but light weight and has a small
piece of copper thru the middle of it.
Tells me you used to have to turn the pieces in, but no more! Any one have any further
info?
Will post a photo tomorrow!

SHERMANVILLE

ummmm...I would be getting there QUICK to do as Sherm says.
If it is in fact a piece of the shuttle and you get caught with the sucker and they see you suspected it...bango! Well, if what they are saying is true that it is a federal offense. I would get your but down to NASA and turn that thing in, or at least get someone there to say it's not a piece of the shuttle.

doctorbb,
Does that make detecting difficult? I would assume THrs are finding all kinds of pieces of that thing if it "rained pieces" over the town. You find em and turn em in?
Never did detect in that area but had a few friends that spent some time at the lake and helped with recovery in the woods and the lake as well. I'm sure there's still stuff in those woods. Most of the folks around there combed their property fairly well. I moved to California not long after that so I lost touch with the story.

Cool piece of history. Glad you are back THing. Keep digging!

p.s. A little tip, to help give a better idea of size include a coin or ruler with your pictured objects.

If NASA is no longer interested in these small pieces then there would be no harm in taking it to them for examination. Keep us in the loop as to the results!

Here is what a piece of the Cloumbia looked liked- took this 2 days after it fell apart over Texas.
