Hi all, merc here. I'm really excited to finally get a silver coin in change today. 1954 Rosie. Paid $4.00 towards a $3.85 bill. Got 0.15 back. I heard the dime but couldn't read the date till I got home and put some magnification on it. I've been hunting my pocket change all my adult life and this is the first.

Indeed awesome.... Pocket change silver is far and few but when it happens "we educated in the sweet sound of AG" know almost instantly we got something good.

Congrats!

I've been looking for 40+ years and no luck yet.

:occasion14: Congrats! That's a easy way to get silver, no fuss & no muss. I got a mercury dime in my change at the post office about 18 months ago. Hope you get a lot more.

Congratulations! I don't remember the last time I received a silver in change!

My wife has gotten two silver dimes (one was a Mercury) and a silver quarter over the years. The only reason I know this is that she occasionally dumps her change on the table because her purse gets too heavy. Who knows how many she has gotten then spent.

Congrats - I have been checking my change since the 70's without any luck. Finally maybe 5 years ago I got a 63 quarter and couldn't believe it. Then like 6 months later got a silver roosie.

Will be looking the rest of my life, but still surprised how little I find.

Pete

Congrats on the change silver! My buddy found a silver rosie in his change this week too.

IMO, there are more silvers in circulation than we suspect; they are just overlooked by the unknowing, ending up in boxes and teller trays.

It's funny you guys have similar experiences. that is, silver in pocket change is extremely rare! I can't figure it out though. I figure I must have gone through several boxes of dimes worth of change in my life and have only found 1 silver dime. maybe I'm wrong, maybe I have only been through $250 worth of dimes from getting change back and my averages are spot on

My 8 yr old son does what we call treasure hunting at the grocery store. He looks up and down the check out isles for change on the floor. He always finds something. In the last 6 months he has found 2 silver rosies.
