Re: first finds

very nice finds Tsalagi . The ring is nice. The spike I am going too guess here may be an old tent peg. probably off on that one though.

Re: first finds

Just wanted to add my "Welcome"!
Neat finds, that gun looks like a "breakover" shotgun to me. Just for fun you try to clean out the barrel. Kidding!
Beats the heck outta my first finds.

Re: FIRST FINDS & SOME KIND OF GUN!!!!

Welcome! Nice finds for starting out. Looking at the barrel and sight system, I'd say it's a rifle. 1st thought was a Stevens Favorite but it looks to be a break-over instead. If it's not too rusted, I'd get some gun oil and some 0000 steel wool and try along the left side either in front of or below the rear sight. You might be able to bring out some of the stamping if lucky. Good luck and continued HH!

Re: FIRST FINDS & SOME KIND OF GUN!!!!

New England Firearms(NEF) make a series of interchangeable barrels, single shot, rifle and shotgun, breakdown. With a rear site,it most likely is a rifled barrel. Some of you gun guys help me out now,who did NEF buy out or change thier name from? Was it H&R?

Re: FIRST FINDS & SOME KIND OF GUN!!!!

Holy Cow Tsagali...looks like you've found a great spot to detect! That old gun is awesome, kinda looks like an old 30-30 Winchester.

Thanks for sharing,

Yes, it was H&R. One of the shotgun models used to be the 088 and was changed to Pardner.
