I did a short 1.5 hour hunt in my seated field. I had to work really hard just to find one indian. Its a really nice looking 1887 though. It was dark and I was just about to leave when I got a broken mid-high tone near where I always park. It sounded really bad but I dig everything here and could not believe what I was holding in my hand. Its pretty rough looking probably plow struck but it appears to be marked 10k. Its from the local high school but the year is worn off. This particular high school ceased to be around 1971. Its probably quite a bit older than that too.

ANY ONE WANTS TO FIND MORE CLASS RINGS OR THEIR FIRST - YOUR BEST CHANCE IS WATER HUNTING
IN LIKE 20 YRS OF LAND HUNTING - I FOUND MAYBE AROUND 8 OF THEM - LAST 20 YRS WATER HUNTING- LIKE 50+

Might get that checked for higher gold content. 10K is HARD to wear down... Great find!

Edit: nevermind.. .saw the weight. Too light to be 14K or greater. Most are 10K anyway. AWESOME find, nonetheless!

Woohoo!

YOU'D BE SURPRISED - IVE GOTTEN MANY OLDER ONES IN 10K - WORN DOWN - GUY PROB WORE IT ALL THE TIME
AND DID LOT OF MANUAL LABOR - USING HAND TOOLS.. SHOVELS - RAKES - THAT MOVEMENT ON I WILL WEAR IT DOWN
IT DEPENDS ALOT ALAO WHAT COMPANY USED FOR THE OTHER 14K OF IT - COMPANIES NOW USE METALS LIKE NICKEL THAT ARE HARDER WHEN MIXED WITH GOLD
OLDER ONES THEY USED SILVER IN THE MIX WHICH IS SOFTER THAN MOST OF THE OTHER ALLOYS OUT THERE NOW

Great finds! Keep it up.

Awesome score toasted. Congrats on the big gold and another Indian Head. I'm still looking for my 1st class ring. The seated site is an awesome hunt site.

Great ring. [emoji106]

Thanks all. Really happy to have it. The side where the year would be looks like it was purposely defaced. My new theory is that it was stolen and altered so as to be not identified. Then tossed for some reason. That or just really bad plow damage
