My wife let me get out for a couple hours today so I hit my moms yard again, I have found 7 buttons in her yard in the last couple months 2 pewter and 5 flat buttons but no coins. My mother said it had been hunted alto by the previous owner so I always work with no discrimination and dig everything but iron. Today I hunted an hour and a half with nothing but some bottle caps when I decided to hunt the driveway, I have never hunted a drive because there always so packed down and fool of rocks but my first signal was a penny reading and read at only a inch but I dug anyway and when it came out I thought it was a quarter until i Saw liberty across the top, so I washed it off under the spicket and could read the date 1808 it was my first half cent and my oldest coin yet. My mothers going to till her yard in the spring so I should get some more good stuff out of there, thanks for reading and happy hunting!

Thanks for the replies, I cant wait until next weekend to find another. My friends have found some nice cobs and cut coins, the oldest I have seen them find is a 1580s copper. I haven't found a site that old yet but hopefully soon, Thanks again. HH!
