First Hunt of 2014 Brings 1905, 1865 Coins!!
So I work at a driving range, and there is an old house foundation at the back of the property. It doesn't look very old...I want to say ~1900. Maybe late 1800s. I went back to explore the area for the third time, previously finding a 40s merc and not much else. Tonight I came away with a nice 1905 Indian Head and also an 1856 3 Pfenninge, from Prussia. Not sure how this ended up here!
The soil is nice and sandy so it preserved the coins pretty well. Except for the back of the Prussian coin. Also came away with some other odds and ends, including a more modern spigot, broken spoon, a golf club head (go figure). Also got a 1944 NY License Plate which I thought was pretty interesting. You can barely see it says NY 44 above the letters/numbers.
Not bad for an hour's time!!
