First military button

I found this button in an area where U.S. troops trained in 1898 before shipping to Cuba for the Span-Am War. This was my very first button.

trk5cpt, it is possible to be cw, but the back is so corroded, you can't read the backmark. It was found in an area where both were. With the gilt still intacted so well, I just asumed it was Span Am. Thanks.
