I was in a old school built in the '40s and the field had been hit by metal detectors hard. In the field I got no good signals. I normally do not dig zinc signals but I really had really good feeling about this one. I figured "What the heck, i'll dig it" Then at 6" the object was out of the hole. I kept on dividing each pile of dirt until I saw a round metal ball. I knew it was a musket ball right away. I did research and measured it, it turned out to be .54 caliber. The field had added dirt. The musket ball was at the bottom of the added dirt. My metal detector is a Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202. Here are some picks of my find.

Congrats.....On my bucket list, but my chances in NW Indiana are probably slim.
