First post - is this interesting?

Found this at a site of historical significance. It was a known Bronze Age settlement and allegedly Viking burial site. Obviously this could be a natural thing but it just looks man made- a bead? Any info about possible time period much appreciated- it sure if clay or stone. New here so bear with me- not sure what else to say!

Wow! It’s a something? Brilliant! There is a Roman palace 3 miles away- a possible link?

Crusader would probably be as ble to snswer.

If it were bronze I would say its a bead for sure & the one's I find can be from the Iron Age or Roman Period.

Being that we are not sure what its made of, I think all we can say is that its probably a bead from an unknown date.

Thank you. I’ve given it a good clean and you might see better what it’s made of. It’s v light- definitely not metal could be light stone? Got a funny surface like tiny bubbles or spores on surface but that might just be weather damage

The problem is, it doesn't seem to be made from a common material used in any of the various periods of history. I can't put a date on it but maybe a local archaeologist can.

Yes, quite interesting!
If this bead was found in that site, with other related artifacts,
then, perhaps genuine, but age, etc - can't help..., sorry!

Run a metal detector over that site.

It looks like a bead made from some type of shell or bone.I would lean more towards bone.

I just found it by hand it had been turned up by the mud in the rain!
I think it’s either chalk or bone
