Hi everybody,
Just got my White's DFX and after reading the manual twice (WHEW!) I can see its going to take a while to fully understand all it's functional versatility. So, I just took it out to my back yard, set it on the basic C/J program and within 15 minutes I got a 'SWEET' sounding hit. Also got a V.D. Icon for a 25 cent piece at about 3" deep. I pinpointed target and started to dig. As I lifted the plug and cleared a little dirt I saw a coin edge still in the hole. I reached in and pulled out a 1964 Kennedy SILVER Half-Dollar...

Scanned Image of My First DFX Find!
I'm not ashamed to admit I let out a 'HOOP' at my unexpected find!
I only had about another 15 minutes to hunt but found only 'trash' (Old house key and pop-tops). I'll sweep the rest of the yard but I don't expect such luck again.
I have a question for any other DFX users out there. Would the fact that the coin was in the ground edge up but at a sloping angle explain the 25 cent Icon?
Is that usual for the DFX ?
Thanks everyone and GBY&Y.
As soon as I get my scanner working, and the coin cleaned up, I'll post the actual coin.
{Scanned Image Pasted Above}
The coin has some dark stains and surface crud on it. Some look like tiny little crystals(?). I'm going to try the 'home brew' cleaner I use on my rifle/pistol cases ... White Vinegar, Lemon Juice, Baking Soda and a rag or toothbrush. I'll test it on the edge first to see how it works on silver. Anybody know a better way? How about that 'Tarnex' stuff
