I went to a bank in Illinois on Friday while traveling through Illinois and bought $40.00 worth of half dollars. Two of the rolls had nothing. One roll was marked 1776-1976 and was full of those coins. One other roll had nothing but half dollars from 1965 to 1969. I don't understand this. Am considering calling the bank and maybe going back if they have a sizeable amount of halves. Not a bad way to start.

I did go back and bought sixteen rolls of halves. Four of the rolls contained only bicentennial coins. But of the $200 that I spent in the last four days at this bank I found 1964 Kennedy and 19 pre 1970 halves.

Am I hooked. No.

Will I do it again: Yes

When: I go out with my detector all the time to small towns in Missouri, so I will always be visiting those small banks and see what I can find. But, no matter what I find, I don't think I can beat my first four days and #200.
