I set my trail camera out a around a week ago in the woods behind my house to see what keeps on coming around my barn and house at night. Anyways, today I noticed that there was almost no snow left in the woods where I placed the camera. I decided to take my metal detector on my way to get the camera. I ended up spending around half an hour or so metal detecting there. Here are my first two finds of the year, I have found nothing else so far (except for an old handsaw on the surface under the snow, when tried to metal detect in a foot of snow nearly a month ago). I am not sure what the pewter/lead disk is either, perhaps an old weight, it is the size of a large cent, and has a design at 12 o clock on the side with the weird blob Looks to be made of two layers when viewed from the edge, it is also lighter than I would expect if it was made out of lead. I also found an 1820's flat button out there.

Large cent for size on my second photo.

Did you find what/who was "tripping" the camera?

Thanks for asking, forgot to mention that lol! The culprits are a fox and a coyote. The coyote came during the day time a few times even when it tripped the camera, and the fox keeps triggering the motion sensing light on the side of my barn. I would assume that it lives there. I have also seen fisher cats multiple times in the past on the trail camera.

I will try to put it right next to the barn tonight, so I can see what is actually going right up to it and tripping it there, rather than a hundred or so feet off in the woods behind it.

Time stamp is very off, I accidentally set it to January 1st 2018 when I bought it months back. though right now I really wish it was correct. I can't wait for winter to be done!

Photos are from before the 70 degree heat wave we had a couple days ago that melted nearly all the snow in the woods.

I would love it if it were one! I see what looks a little bit like three rings on it. There were not any Civil War battles at the time anywhere near me, and my house where it was found at was not owned by any Civil War soldiers, only French and Indian and Revolutionary War soldiers though. Could it perhaps be a civilian bullet or musket ball that was hammered down to be a disk?
