2014 is starting off slow. Between the snow, cold, and just plain bad luck, the finds have been few. My first two hunts of the year netted me about 70 cents, almost all in corroded zinc. But hey, it always gets better. The last two hunts I managed a little silver, one Indian, and finally a token. Always happy with a token, especially since Field-Mouse has been kicking our buts with her token finds. Tokens from a 1907 cigar store, once located near the Denver Mint. Also dug two radio premium items, one the Jimmie Allen Flying Cadet pin that I've dug before, but the other, a "Northwest Mounted Badge" has me stumped. Need help with that one. The 57 in the center of the badge made me think of a Heinz item, but after an hour or two on the computer, I couldn't find anything really helpful. Assuming it's Canadian Mountie themed, and that can be anywhere from the 1920's to the 50's. No markings on the back, can't even see where a pin would have been. Pretty positive that it's a premium of some sort, even though it's well made, it doesn't have the quality of a real badge. Any help would be appreciated. The match safe was a cool find. Made by Gorham, it was probably silver plated at one time, but at least the flower is solid silver. The Indian arrow piece looks to be from the 40's, nice that it still has the pin attached. Nothing too spectacular, but it will get better.
