Good morning everyone,
I inherited a Fisher 1236-X2 from my dad. I printed the manual and followed it verbatim and nothing. I pulled the batteries and reinstalled them and voila it worked. This was 10:00 at night so I say it worked because it went bonkers over the steel embedded in our houses foundation, I raised it waist high and it reacted to my wife's wedding ring and a brass key I waved over the coil. I turn it off and put it in the corner satisfied that I'd be able to use it the next afternoon. I get home, turn it on and nothing. Any suggestions?

New batteries? Corrosion on terminals, loose wire going to terminals? I'm not familiar with the on/off switch, i know its a knob, maybe contacts in the switch? Oh and check the coil connector also, i just read this, maybe wiggle it while batteries in and see what happens.
