I am looking at getting my first detector. I like the Fisher F75 LTD, but not sure if the added expense justifies the features. I would be primarily coin shooting with relic hunting a close second. The coin shooting would be in pretty trashy areas as we have some parks dating back quite a ways.

That being said. Is it worth the extra $200 or should I get the Teknetics T2 and use the additional money for an additional coil.

Things I have seen about them:
F75 backlit display
F75 notch discrimination
F75 additional audio tones

T2 has more Iron level discrimination

Also, at around 1000 there are a lot more detectors that come in to the picture as viable options.

They are both great units. You have mentioned the difference in features. It's down to a decision on if you need these features. Give me a call if I can help you in your decision.

I bought the t2 and like it better than any other detector that I have tried. That being said if I had to pick between those two now I would go with f75 simply for the fact sunray makes a inline probe for the f75 and not the t2.

Hey dirtscratcher, does the 705 not get used much since you started swinging the T2?

Not really me and the t2 get along really well. I believe the t2 may be the most overlooked detector its a beast.

I have an F70 and F75LTD with boost, I think the F70 is the unknown or bad reputation hot detector.

Other than the user interface, I couldn't see paying a lot more for an F75 over an F70.

My F70 with batteries and 11DD weighs 3lbs, 2oz
The F75LTD with batteries and 11DD weighs 3lbs, 12oz.

We sell both Teknetics, Fisher and the XP DEUS. I love the DEUS, but I still enjoy using my F75 LTD SE. I have a NEL Sharpshooter coil, that I love on it currently.

The F70 has a very good reputation to the extent that it's got one at all. It's just not very well known because it wound up in a "sleeper" market niche. In terms of basic performance it's comparable to the F75LTD. User interface is more user-friendly, and the discrimination system has some secret sauce that helps it run a little quieter and more predictably on trashy sites. Between the two I actually prefer the F70.

woof you're right about the F70!

I sold a friend a couple of weeks ago a F70 with a NEL Sharpshooter 9"DD & 13" DD Tornado coil for less than a F75! I saw him Sunday. We were hunting a camp ground across from Charlotte Motor Speedway. (Week after the Coca-Cola 600!) He found over $2.00 in clad along with 4 tent states using the Tornado. (High trashy area with tons of bottle caps and tabs.)

F70 is an overlooked machine.

F70 is an overlooked machine.

When the F70 came out, it was hotter than the existing F75/T2.

They had to upgrade them hence LTD with boost models.
imho

I found the most coins in a day with the F70, 70 coins. That not hunting all day either but a few hours. It was all clad, but this is one example of the fast recovery speed and how it lets you cover ground fast, and get those targets in between trash.

You are replying to a 3 1/2 year old thread from a guy that came on to just ask this one question, he never replied and never came back.
Still, what you are saying about the F70/Patriot is more than just true and they also have many other abilities that can be shocking.
Trust me...I know. :icon_thumright:

I know. I saw the date after I posted. This app has a list of topics and for whatever reason it had this topic listed as one of them. When I posted i saw the date but if it helps out anyone with purchasing a f70 patriot then great.
