Fishing weights at $0.30 per pound scrap

Recently took 70 lbs of fishing weights, found MDing over the yrs, to a local scrap dealer who paid 30 cents per pound. Got $21.00 for effort. Every little bit helps...
Also had to replace my catalitic converter on my 2016 F150. There wasn't a core charge so I insisted on getting my old catalitic converter back and scrapped it for $30.00.
Now we're talking real money! Help pay for gas...to go metal detecting.

From out here in the sticks, it looks to me like you'd need to have a whole lot of scrap anything to make enough money to pay for the gas to drive it over to the scrapper.

True the yard price for lead was higher a decade ago. Here is the running average of prices today.

Remember the yards need to make a little bit off this also. Lead isn't a leading commodity as copper/brass/aluminum/stainless.

For a general reference this site is very useful.
They list most commodities and they area where a person lives.

those prices are way off from what i found around here in Ma.
lowest i got offered for scrap was like 50c
I remelt mine and skim it so its pretty clean - gun clubs will pay lot more for clean lead
check on prices to BUY lead - it is greater than $1 lb

Its like selling gold - do you go to a pawn shop that wont give you more than 50%
or to a refinery that will give you 90%+
