Went back today for about an hour to our second site ( yes every afternoon this week I've been!) and found these bottons along with some buckshot and shotgun shells. Great to have another site close to home that continues to produce!

Nice button recoveries. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the button finds are underrated in my opinion.

Nice finds Darby. Always like finding old buttons. :icon_thumleft:

Nice button finds! The broken one almost looks like a Tombac button.

Nice finds Darby!

Nice buttons Darby!!:icon_thumright: That top one looks like one I found, I think its nick name is basket weave=ED

Digging early buttons is just a numbers game, and if you keep doing it a good one will come. When we find a new site here and dig 20,30,40 buttons or more, we almost always come up with an early military.

Thanks y'all! We have two spots that are consistently giving up buttons. I get excited every time one comes up, even a
plain old flat one! Just cool digging up history. Im hooked.

When I first started detecting sites with lots of buttons it sort of felt like a scratch lottery ticket every time I popped one. That's because I did hit a good one early on that paid me back for my detector... so every day I was waiting for the next big ticket one.

I think my buddy jdsly hit one with that rattlesnake button. He's definately hooked, too!

That is exactly what happened to me, and it definitely puts digging buttons very close to the top of your list.

i recently scored a bunch of buttons from a 1800s site, i like finding those almost as much as the LCs, way to go on ur buttons!!

Down here, for every 8 buttons we get a spanish silver, and every dozen we get an early military. ;)

Up here with those numbers you get a punch in the face.

Nice stuff man. The basket weave looking button looks like the Ives Kendrick Co. one i dug 2 days ago, that dates to the 1830'sIMG_1485.webp

Went back this afternoon for about an hour and dug these three buttons, a buckle, a thimble and a lead ball. No silver coins or military button yet but sure get happy everytime I see a button come up!
