Floor and Ground Coin Hunting

Finding a silver roosie on the ground the other day got me to thinking, so here's a heads up to keep your head down. When you're at a store, don't forget to check the floor where people pay. I know it's obvious, and most of you are probably the type of people that walk around all day with your eyes towards the ground searching for change (I do), but free money is free money, right? Places where teenagers gather are especially coinful. There's money to be had. Especially if the place is dimly lit. Sure, you probably won't find any walkers, but it's not just pennies on the ground anymore. Most people my age (early 20's) hate anything less than a quarter. One person I know said he throws his change in the garbage, and he was totally serious. And out of curiosity, have you or anyone you know ever found a half or a dollar coin on the ground? Anything silver? Anything gold? (just kidding) Do you always pick up change, or only sometimes? What's the most you've ever found? Any keepers?

Hi. I haven't found as much as Dr. Detector there, but I keep a running tally on my blog of all the money I've found on the ground and what not. There are a few better blogs devoted to the topic that I have links to. Some of these guys royally put me to shame.

I was At a Amusement park When I was about 13
I was walking by the Racer at pki if anyone knows it.
I look Ahead on the ground there was a 20, 5 , 1 just layin there i Ran to it and Picked it up and kept walkin.
I was Happy So I bought a pizza and Treated my 2 friends with me.

I have Found many Pennies Nickles and Dimes over the years,

What a great story. Amusement parks have coins aplenty all over! I would love to take a walk below a roller coaster.

Bars are a good place for dropped cash. I've found 20's on a few occasions and once a diamond engagement ring (turned it in). Someone was trying to appear single for the night and it didn't make it into her pocket! Kinda makes you think...

I also found a silver ring at a Kohl's and a $100 bill at an airport.

Keep those eyes to the ground!
