I grubbed this point dubbed FLOUNDER many years ago . I could feel the edge sticking out of eroded hard pan clay under water. I gradually worked it out with my fingers. The more of it I could feel the more excited I got. I wasnt disappointed when I brought it up.

There has been much discussion as to type. It is crazy thin with diving flakes that actually make the center of the blade thinner than the edges. The stem is fluted and ground. If I found just the stem I might think it was a broken folsom.

TSU has studied the point and some believe it is a paleo point from Central America or South America. The material has little starburst in it very much resembling a material from Chili.

I dont know what it is but I love it.

I remember that point from Arrowheadology. Glad to see it again. When I read the title of this thread, I thought you were going to post this very point!

I got it out and petted it this morning. It triggers some weird emotion inside me. Maybe the vivid memory of working it out of the clay unseen. I had two friends with me. When I could feel the first notch I yelled for them to come. It took an eternity to free it. Probably 5 minutes but that was an eternity. When it came free, it was even better than I could have dreamed.

Years ago, I sold it to Bill German for 2500 bucks. I cried a little every time I saw it but he wouldnt consider parting with it. Finally I asked just what it would take to get it back. He said 10,000 dollars! I said sold! He started crawfishing but I went and got him the cash. Best money I ever spent.

Wow it’s a beauty. I have to assume it was someone’s prized possession or perhaps something passed down several generations.

I can’t help but ask...what is something like that actually worth if it went to auction?

If you read the post above yours you will see I sold it for 2500 and bought it back for 10,000. I certainly wouldnt take that for it now.

That is amazing! I don't think I've seen anything quite like it. Are there S. American points that look like that or is that just an educated guess by TCU? Very impressive artifact.

Yes. Excavated in good context. I'm not saying that's what it is but Dr Collins feels very strongly about it and believes he knows the material is from down there as well. He has seen 4 found in Texas.

Once again... I dont know what it is.
