Thank you not bad for start to second season .dfx in deep silver mode nailed it.

Congrats on the big copper! :occasion14:

Any chance you can get some close up and clear pics ? - this is a major find !

Try later for better pics right now looking at ways to clean have not done nothing to it other than a rinse now do I peroxide ? Soak in oil ? Unsure dont want to ruin .any ideas out there looks like a crust on it very little green thanks

When you get better pics, try with some lighting off to the side to show any shadows that might help identify features better. I had one I thought was completely beyond flat and that actually ended up allowing me to identify what it was

I would discourage you from cleaning it until you get a clear, close-up picture of it posted so the coin experts can figure out what you have and the general conditon of it. I have made the mistake of cleaning a couple early coppers and cleaned any detail that was left right off of them.

If you have a digital camera with macro mode use it with good lighting. Or if you have a good quality flat bed scanner you can capture an image with it.

Buddy it sounds like you should wait to hear form the experts before you give it a peroxide bath.

I'm gonna ill try with digital camera instead of phone and do you mean a computer scanner ill try that to thanks guys for the advice appreciated

Thanks again time machine you have scanner

With better pics and and a date it is a banner all day in my book. There isn't a treasure hunter out there who doesn't dream of finding a liberty cap in any condition. I recently pulled a corroded one out of a dealers junk box and it might end up being the find of the year for me.

Very nice find. Congratulations are in order. Do NOT use peroxide on this coin

Sorry on multiples was saying error not going through but did

Snaggerr,

The images are not in focus, and with the minimal amount
of identifiable surface features left on the coin it's near impossible
to enhance any of the images.

I would suggest taking some pics with a decent compact digital,
or better yet, a DSLR.

Hellofa find though!

Looks pretty toasty but identifiable, I've tried everything to clean up LC's. Best not do any cleaning for now. Someday someone will invent a better way!

Oh yea .....congratulations !

Does your camera have a macro mode? If so use it and hold the camera a couple about 8 inches from the coin then slowly move closer until you are just a couple inches from it. Make sure that it is in focus when shooting the picture. You might also try wetting the coin to help reveal some features. Good lighting and macro mode are the keys to good close up pics.

Are my eyes playing tricks or do I see the date on his coin picture as 1795???
