Follow up on black sand in Arkansas

I finally squeezed in some time to recover some of that Arkansas black sand. It has a fair quantity of magnetite. Am I on the right trail? Does the black sand look right. Thanks Ray

magnetite and hematite are indicators of mineralization. It doesn't always mean there is gold.. Hematite and magnetite and iron oxides often are present when gold is present.

You seem to have a good start there Ray,
Now go ahead and pan a whole bunch of that stuff. Put a layer of plastic wrap between the magnet and the sand and peel the wrap from the magnet over a separate container where the mag sand will be separated from the rest. work with what is left. that is where the gold will be hiding.

If it can be picked up with a magnet ... it isn't gold.
