Detector(s) used
Discovery 3300, AT GOLD, ACE 250
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Ignoring all wind chill warnings, and -1 temperature and the newsman saying don't go out unless you have too, sounds like a good time to get the detector and hunt. After this short hunt found a decorated flat button and a few other things, then a mystery metal woth a buckle.

HARDCORE! cool finds, too much snow here to go out and play. HH!

Nice finds! Hope your fingers and toes aren't blue!
Any complaints from the detector? My screen display is tad slow in cold weather.

I always look forward to your reply beep. But no she still worked good, batteries I think drained quicker

I'm assuming the shard is a rim of Native American pot?

Im not really sure, its got crushed like oyster shells in it, I figured it was just rock formation but its really light

In the UK, that's called 'shell tempered ware'. It is crushed up shell, I'm 99% sure you have some very old pottery piece, as your Natives did use this technique.

Thanks crusader you dont know how good news that is too me, im going to dig up the rest. Who used it? Colonists or Indians?

I thought about going out today but decided I'll wait till it warms up a bit tomorrow lol. Hard when I just got a new detector...Great finds and thanks for sharing.

quick ? how the heck do you dig when the ground is frozen? i would imagine it would be like trying to get through cement. i live in Wisconsin and it was -23 this morning couldn't imagine how hard it would be trying to dig something up! but congrats very nice finds!

As far as I'm aware it's the Indians. Might have some real age to it, ie. pre-colonial

Thanks for the info crusaders, the rest was excavated and pieced together.

How did u dig through the frozen ground?

Long story mack. One long gross story
