Those are only the big forts, most of which you probably can't detect. You really need to do some research to find the old forts.
 

In the books that I've written, I mention both the big forts and the little ones. In the areas where the Civil War was fought heavily, I added one day encampments and with a little additional research and pouring over old original maps over laid with modern maps, these encampments can be found. One TH'er in Tennessee stumbled across a virgin CSA encampment. His brother only mentioned that the guy wouldn't come down for fear someone else would find it.
 

The only forts near me are from the French & Indian, most of which have been torn down. I have 2, both within 2 miles of my house, that have been torn down. One now has a house near it, and the other is on a football field at a middle school.
