fossil bone of ?

Anyone know what this is from? Elk?

From what I see, that isn't a fossil bone at all. It appears to be a chunk of bone that was partially burned in a fire. Is it light?

It's very difficult to ID a bone fragment like that one. The cortex seems unusually thick for a mammal, and the exterior surface has an unusual pimpled surface. There are plenty of dinosaur remains in NM . . . is this one?

Gee Harry, don't tease me, Dino!? Actually this comes from AZ, Prescott area. Before we (me) get to excited, what about ELK, do they have big bones like that? This thing is like a piece of rock in all ways except for how it looks. Hey, wait a min..... I went & got it, am looking at it now, you know Harry, if this was in it's complete "rounded" state (if round?), it would be pretty large like you say.....makes one wonder....OMG, I mean you lol, could it be?

Then it's very likely. Contrary to popular belief, Dinosaur bone fragments like yours are very common in states out west. Complete bones are less common but chunks can be as common as dugong ribs in Florida.

What are "dugong ribs"? I looked at the site Harry sent and yes you're right, pretty common with prices like that!
